SecuGen is expanding its Hamster biometrics scanners series with Hamster Pro Trio
A new multi-factor authentication gadget from SecuGen has been released. The system incorporates a biometric fingerprint reader that can read both contactless cards and smart cards, as certified by the FBI. The Hamster Pro Trio was designed as a three-in-one device for use in eGovernment solutions, employee identification, physical access control, immigration processing, and healthcare provider and patient identification, among other scenarios.

The gadget is compatible with federal information processing standard 201 as well as the Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC) and the Department of Defense Common Access Card Next Generation (DoD CAC NG) (PIV). Also included in the Hamster Pro Trio is SecuGen's premium U20-A fingerprint sensor. In addition, it has the A.B. Circle CIM315F-01 chipset for reading contactless cards and the Identiv CLOUD 2100 R chipset for reading magnetic stripse cards.
The maker states that despite the inclusion of a contactless card reader, the gadget is of similar size and weight to the Hamster Pro Duo SC/PIV. SecuGen's Vice President of Engineering, Dan Riley, says that the Hamster Pro Trio was designed to allow integrators and developers greater leeway in delivering high-level authentication solutions built on tried-and-true technologies without sacrificing usability. Therefore, SecuGen's R&D department has produced yet another cheap yet effective gadget. Won Lee, CEO of SecuGen, says the service is tailored to the requirements of the company's business partners. As a consequence, the Hamster Pro Trio may be purchased through a vast network of suppliers. SecuGen also introduced the Hamster Pro 30 and U30 OEM sensors in the beginning of 2018.
